PARTIAL LIST OF ACHIEVEMENTS, EXPERIENCE & SERVICES PROVIDED: Twenty-eight years of experience in Power Electrical Engineering: Designing induction-synchronous induction machines up to 15 MW. Conducting inspections of large hydro- and turbo-generators of all ratings. Troubleshooting motors and generators of all types and ratings. Designing and R&D of dry-type transformers up to 33 kV voltage rating. Conducting R&D projects in T&D and Generation. Designing electrical power and control systems of new power plants. Being responsible for all large electrical apparatus at a nuclear power plant. Being responsible in one of the largest Independent Power Producers for coordinating the electrical engineering activities of projects under construction. Providing consultative services to over two-dozen generating stations on their large motors, large transformers and generators. Providing consultative services on Failure Analysis and Forensic Engineering. Authored and co-authored two books on the inspection, operation and maintenance of large synchronous machines (in particular large turbo-generators). Authored and co-authored EPRI reports, chapters on books about electric power equipment and systems, and over 20 technical papers published in the IEEE and other similar organizations. Received a number of awards for best paper on a number of manuscripts. Lectured on power quality here and abroad. Presented a number of seminars on the operation and maintenance of large turbo-generators. Lectured and/or supervised laboratory work to undergraduate/graduate and Extension students, electrical engineering courses in UCLA, University of Washington, Witwatersrand University and CSULB. Taught the Power Section of the Professional Engineering Examination preparation courses in CSULB for several years. High Temperature Superconductor Current Limiter – Co-managing multi-million effort funded by SBIR and with the participation of SCE and other large multinational corporations in the development of a HTSC Current Limiter to limit short-circuit current in Power systems. Adaptive Var Compensator – Engineering input in the development of an adaptive var compensator for controlling power factor for wind generating stations. |
